This past Wednesday was Valley for Dive, this year it was located at Clovis West. For swim and dive El Diamante High School got to compete in division 1 this year, with tough competition. For Valley, divers have to compete in 11 dives. After the first 4 dives, they cut the divers with the lowest scores from about 30 divers to 20. Then the people who make the first cuts continue and compete for their next 3 dives. After those, they cut the next group from about 20 divers to 15. The last divers that make it past cuts get to finish the rest of their dives and compete for 1st place. The top 4 winners get to compete the next day for State. Our boy divers got to compete first and they placed very well in their division. Jaden Castillo placed 5th place and Isaiah Groff placed 9th. Our 2 girl divers, Madison Butterfield and Kenzie Ruiz did not get past the first cuts. Sadly, none of the divers made it to State the next day, but they did a great job competing with their best effort.
