Gender Pay Gaps

A large problem I intend to learn more about is gender pay gaps. Gender pay gaps are the difference between the average hourly wage of men and women, and are usually shown by statistics that prove men earn more than women. Previous decades where women were treated unequally to men should be something that is fixed in today’s day in age. People often assume every man and woman are equal however, authors, Elise Gould, Jessica Schieder, and Kathleen Geier from the Economic Policy Institute point out, “By that measure, women are paid 80 cents for every dollar men are paid” (3). This statistic proves how women are paid less than men in any workplace because of their gender. I am more interested in learning about potential solutions to gender pay gaps whether it be protesting, advocating on social media, or reaching out to influential people. The gender pay gap is a serious topic that I would like to gain more information on.
