Over the weekend there was an attack on virtual infrastructure equipment that caused a massive blackout to occur in a North Carolina county. There is a $75,000 reward in the search for the gun-wielding suspect. Earlier Wednesday, the local energy utility company, Duke Energy, stated that the damages to the two substations in Moore County that were damaged were now repaired and or replaced and power is expected to have been restored to ten of thousands of people. The announcement came as many residents in Moore county awoke to their fourth day without power. Law enforcement also continued to search for the perpetrator who sabotaged the two key power distribution substations.

Initially, after the attack 45,000 were affected by the attack then by Tuesday only 35,000 people were without electricity. Now on Wednesday, there were only 400 Duke Energy customers that were without electricity.

Now new significant evidence was found and County Sheriff deputy Richard Maness told ABC that they are closely analyzing the two crime scenes. Cooper told ABC news that “This was a malicious attack on an entire community, and it plunged tens of thousands of people into darkness. They knew what to do to disable this substation. … But we know that people are very frustrated here, and that’s very understandable”. Cooper reiterated that the criminal that did this knew what they were doing. The crisis in Moore county has prompted local law enforcement to call the FBI to help in the investigation.
