Up to a foot of snow is expected to fall in part of Southern California in less than a week after the region experienced record-high temperatures. A late-season cold storm will be moving in on Wednesday night bringing heavy snow and rain to both cities and mountains. The National Weather Service issued a Winter Weather Advisory on Wednesday that ended on Thursday. The San Gabriel Mountains are expected to get the most snow with approximately 14 inches.
Road travel could be difficult and impossible on some of the mountain roadways. The unseasonable weather has already brought up 7 inches of snow overnight Tuesday in the Sierra Nevada. The cool weather comes only days after large parts of the West Coast experienced a heat wave with record-high temperatures. After this week, temperatures are going to continue to rise as summer draws near.
