A Haunted Friendship

I’m never going to be able to give you the friendship you want.

Nor do I want to.

You want to know all my secrets.

You said you would lock them all in a vault but it turns out that you gave other people the keys.

This friendship was filled with black market deals in the shadows while my back was turned.

You tried to clean the carpet but the bloodstains of my slaughtered reputation never came out.

I stepped over your last trap hoping I would never have to come back to this horrible house called our friendship.

You still want me to come “home” but I can’t go into the unknown.

Did you hide the tape recorder in the lamp again or under my favorite chair?

Did you hide the camera behind the cupboard?

Is one of our friends lurking in the closet with all my skeletons?

I’m never going to be able to give you what you want because it’s buried deep inside of me.
