This past week, our varsity water polo girl’s team left town on Thursday, October 6th, to go compete in the annual Arroyo Grande tournament. It was a three-day tournament, where the girls played a total of 5 games. Their first two games were Thursday night, the first one at 6pm and the second one at 8pm.

To start off the tournament on Thursday, the girls faced San Luis Obispo high school at their home pool. Unfortunately, they ended up losing the game, causing them to have their second game at 8pm that day. In their second game, they faced Porterville high school at 8pm and took their first win of the tournament. The following day, Friday, they only had one game at 5pm, facing Atascadero. The girls took their last loss of the tournament in that game.

Saturday morning the girls started the morning off with a 10 am game, going up against Arroyo Grande at Nipomo high school. It was a close game the entire time, but the El Diamante girls took the win. Arroyo Grande’s team got in kick-out trouble, leaving them with only five players, instead of six, in the pool. Our varsity girls saw the advantage they had with one extra player and secured the win. Their last game of the tournament was at 2pm, against Central Fresno high school. They beat Central by several points.

To conclude their tournament, our varsity girls won three out of five of their games. Not only did the girls get experience playing tougher teams, but also had amazing team bonding time.
