Want a simple dessert to make with someone on Valentine’s Day? These red velvet cookies are a simple and tasty treat for the special holiday.

Prep Time: 10 minutes Cook Time: 10 minutes Total Time: 20 minutes Servings: 24

Ingredients

  • 1 12.5oz package Sugar Cookie Mix or halve super soft sugar cookie recipe
  • 1/2 cup 1 stick butter, softened
  • 1 egg
  • 1/3 cup cocoa powder
  • 4 oz cream cheese softened
  • 3 tsp red coloring
  • Cream Cheese Frosting:
  • 4 oz cream cheese softened
  • 2 tsp butter softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2-3 tablespoon milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Valentines sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  2. In medium bowl, stir together cookie mix, butter, egg, cream cheese and red coloring until well blended.
  3. Place rounded tablespoons of dough 2-inches apart onto a parchment lined cookie sheet. Spray the bottom of a glass jar with non-stick spray. Press down each ball of cookie dough gently until a 2 1/2” diameter circle of dough forms.
  4. Bake for 9-10 minutes.
  5. Cool cookies completely.
  6. To make cream cheese frosting:
  7. With an electric mixer, beat cream cheese and butter until smooth. Add in powdered sugar, milk and vanilla, mixing until smooth. Spread on each cookie and top with holiday sprinkles.
