This season’s El Diamante Girls Cross Country team had an outstanding season, placing 1st for EYL and 2025 D2 CIF Central Section Cross Country Championships, and placing 19th for the D2 CIF State Championship. This is a significant achievement for El Diamante and the girls.

Varsity runner Elisabella Avalos told us about the big achievement, “It was so amazing … I hugged Tucker, and we started crying, and then I found my other girls, and we started crying … we were ecstatic.”

They were led by their MVP, 15-year-old Sophomore Isabella Vazquez, with a 5k PR time of 17:57, and 17-year-old Senior Brookyln Bawanan, with a 5k PR time of 18:49.

This is what Brookyln Bawanan had to say about the coaches: “The coaches have definitely stayed motivating and they were very supportive of us … just knowing they were by our side was very nice”.

Hannah Dlugonski, a 14-year-old freshman was the fastest freshman for the 2025 D2 CIF Central Section Cross Country Championship with a 5K time of 20:21. She had this to share about her season: “I was the fastest freshman in valley and it made me really happy … the coaches really impacted my season by making me faster … they’re also really nice, encouraging and uplifting”

El Diamante is very proud of our Girls Cross Country team, which continues to get faster and stronger each year, and we are proud of our Lady Miner runners.
